A wedding dress for the character of Bathsheba Everdene from the Thomas Hardy Novel ‘Far From The Madding Crowd’.
As the novel is set within the period 1869- 1873, this dress is from Janet Arnold’s ‘Patterns Of Fashion’ and the original dress is in the ‘Gallery of English Costume’ and is dated 1870-71.
This dress includes a historically accurate corset, petticoat and bustle. The dress has been part of an exhibition titled 'Wessex Tales' at Blandford Costume Museum.

This dress was made with the same skirt pattern to the previous 'Janet
Arnold' 1870 dress. The corset is made in the traditional way, with steel
boning, a busk at the front, and a lace up back.
The bustle is separate, so the dress can be worn with or without.
This dress was made for a bridal boutique, so could be made in alternative
colours for both bridal or evening wear.
